Bursary Scheme

Eloi Ministries has developed this project to give a helping hand to poor families that have failed to educate their children by providing financial assistance and material support to help realize an increase in the literacy levels in Uganda and in turn eradicate poverty.

The aim of this project is to increase the affordability and accessibility of education among families living in impoverished homes across Uganda.

In spite of the introduction of Universal Primary and Secondary Education (UPE USE) by the government to mitigate the problem of access education, many challenges still remain today that affect the education sector in Uganda, finances being the most pressing. A bursary helps students to manage their finances to participate more fully in the life and community of their respective universities. In sort, they enhance student experience through service learning, volunteer opportunities and internships.

In Uganda, the literacy rates show that 70% of Ugandans are illiterate, with male’s having higher literacy rates than females. Sponsoring a child in need thus helps a child to realize real change in their lives and that of their families. It also gives these less privileged children the opportunity to participate in the empowerment of their communities.
