Shem Wavamuno Mukasa, Uganda

I glorify God for all the times I’ve Evangelised, Visited and fed families, Counselled young people, Visited and worked with hospitals, Advocated for people’s rights, Visited schools, Supported young children in school, among others as an ELOI Ministries volunteer. I have been thinking for a long time on how I could try to summarize my time with ELOI Ministries, and there is just so much. I have a hard time getting my keyboard to express all I need to say. It has always been the most life-changing experience of my life. I have never felt so inspired, so free to experience all that this world can give and take. I feel very fortunate that I could be a part of ELOIM. Thank you so much for this opportunity, I learnt a lot about myself and others to fulfil their dreams. I’ve gained more good friends, more good memories, and more good experience than I could have imagined some years back. Surely I wouldn’t change it for the world. I’ve always had the best, most incredible enlightening and wonderful time in all places I have done Evangelistic, and Philanthropic work. I would love to work more with ELOIM as long as I live, now and in the future, the reason that I would recommend it to anyone.

It was first to say an honor to help ELOI Ministries in the endeavor to help youth and adults in the greater Ugandan area through Christ. It was a humbling experience, and one that I will cherish for the rest of my life. At the beginning of the journey I was uncertain at the task that was before me, and yes I put it in God’s hands and was led by Mr. Tendo Steven and his great staff throughout my stay. They treated me with the warmth and compassion that can be likened to that of a family member and I consider now that there is a piece of my heart that will always be in there in Uganda. This all being said I hope to one day come and volunteer again for this great organization as there is something inherent in all humans when you share or give and there is nothing like it. Those smiles that I got from the children probably helped me more than I could of ever helped them. I can only hope that others have the strength to venture to change their lives and let God guide them in the Perl of Africa!

I worked at ELOI Ministries for a year as a volunteer in the position of Country Director. The experience in that position was very fulfilling and as an individual I have developed and gained a lot of knowledge, confidence and skill.

I had a large team of 40 staff members that I managed and a number of programs I was foreseeing and directing. The team I worked with dealt with programs such as FALL, Education, Health, Justice, among others. I also did proposal writing with my team, visits to different areas of interests around the country, that involved taking care of the poor and needy, orphans, widows, handicapped, Evangelizing, elderly and areas that were ravaged by war and hunger.

Today I can confidently start an NGO basing on the experience i gained in the one year. The Executive Director, my immediate Boss and supervisor, Mr.Tendo Steven was an approachable man and a good mentor, who stopped at nothing to ensure that I got exposure in that field, he introduced me to the most important persons that were relevant to nonprofit organizations, he showed me all the processes required to have a successful NGO.

I was supported at my job, given all the tools needed for me to deliver effectively and efficiently. Am grateful to God for that opportunity and also to all the staff I worked with at the time. It’s a worthwhile experience that I encourage everybody to try most especially involving themselves into the community/ field

I had the pleasure of work with ELOI Ministries as a volunteer, It’s was such an eye opener how our people vulnerable mothers and babies suffer to receive healthcare services with the scarce resources.

It’s was such an eye opener how our people especially vulnerable mothers and babies suffer to receive healthcare services with the scarce resources. We went to Buwenge Hospital and administered vaccinations to babies, provided antenatal and postpartum care to some mothers. Seeing the dilapidated operating room full of dirt and cobwebs was so frustrating. I wish I could do more than volunteering, and help save these mamas and babies lives. Thanks Steve. I would volunteer again and anytime.
