Access To Justice

ELOIM works closely together with other partners whose sole purpose/aim is to strengthen the quality of interventions, inclusiveness in program monitoring, policy-making, and strategy development plans that target and are relevant to men and women who have been unlawfully on remand without access to free and affordable justice for several months or even years.

Since 2010 when the legal aid clinic was established, ELOIM has both directly and indirectly reached over 800 disadvantaged persons in Uganda.

Sustainable Access to Justice for the unfairly imprisoned persons in Uganda. Our primary objective is to access justice for the prisoners with the aim of improving their wellbeing. We are encouraged by the willingness of other human rights individuals and agencies that support national human rights efforts. In a context in which all countries have pressing national concerns, we appreciate the continued commitment to civil rights operations in Uganda and the global response necessary to prevent injustice. Through this program, Access to Justice, ELOIM’s interests are in improving the quality of access to justice for our target constituencies and as such, strategies employed under this program are aimed at contributing to improving the quality of our services.

"There can be no equal justice where the kind of trial a man gets depends on the amount of money he has".

The success of our fundraising campaigns support among others, community consultation, policy advocacy, communication, and outreach training for underprivileged persons. These participants can be identified as the ambassadors of the other disadvantaged young men and women.
ELOIM also supplements its efforts by building the capacity of paralegals and other resource persons identified by the respective underprivileged persons and Human Rights organizations and networks to be able to work within their communities to increase access to Justice.

ELOIM has purposed to train its programs team routinely in its Community Paralegal Training Program.
Having paralegals helps us to encompass a wide variety of tasks that are all focused on making a difference in legal proceedings, actions, research, hearings, and trials. Paralegals work with attorneys, judges, corporate firms, and government officials to handle everything from the initial contact with a client to the final filing of any paperwork with the appropriate agency.
A diverse set of skills, experience, and knowledge is only be found at ELOIM. .

Human Rights Violation and the role of ELOIM

Human rights violations in Uganda include restrictions on freedom of speech, assembly, and press, as well as arbitrary detentions and torture. ELOI Ministries Uganda advocates for and defends human rights by raising awareness, providing legal aid, and supporting victims of abuse. They also conduct community education programs to promote human rights and collaborate with other organizations to lobby for policy changes that protect citizens’ rights. Through these initiatives, ELOI Ministries aims to foster a more just and equitable society in Uganda.
