Akera John Paul

Country Director

Mr. Akera is Project Management Specialist, Policy Analyst, Researcher, Grants Writer, Social Justice Activist and a Trainer with over 15 Years of work experience for INGOs and Local Non-Profit Organizations in humanitarian, post-conflict and development context in Uganda.

Mr. Akera is pursuing Mastering Policy Development and Analysis at UMI Main Campus, prior to that he completed Master of Arts in Governance & Ethics from Gulu University, Bachelor of Arts in Democracy and Development Studies from Uganda Martyrs University and Diploma in Secondary from Kyambogo University. Attended short trainings in M&E, Resource Mobilization, Grants Management, Legal Studies, Project Management, Risk Management and Strategic Planning, Policy Research and Advocacy.

Prior to joining ELOIM, Mr. Akera worked for Youth Alive Uganda as USAIDICYD Project Coordinator, Program Manager with Human Rights Focus, District Coordinator-USAIDBOCY with AVSI Foundation, Programs Advisor Coordinator at Jesuit Refugee Service, Project Manager with ALIN Uganda, Team Leader at CARITAS Gulu Archdiocese and Outreach Supervisor with MSF-Holland. He is also a seasoned consultant on Organization Development, Researcher, Trainer and Grants writer.

Mr. Akera has a great passion to work with and for vulnerable communities to advance social justice, human development and dignity.
