Introduction
Building healthy futures for children in Uganda, is the foundation of a happy and productive life diverse communities. Yet, for millions of children in Uganda, access to basic healthcare remains a distant dream. Malnutrition, preventable diseases, and limited access to clean water and sanitation are just a few of the challenges that threaten their well-being.
At Ministries, we are committed to improving the health and well-being of Uganda’s children. By addressing these challenges head-on, we’re giving them a chance to grow up healthy, strong, and ready to pursue their dreams.
The Health Crisis Facing Uganda’s Children
- Malnutrition
According to UNICEF, 33% of children under five in Uganda suffer from stunted growth due to malnutrition. Poor nutrition not only affects physical growth but also cognitive development, making it harder for children to succeed in school. - Preventable Diseases
Diseases like malaria, pneumonia, and diarrhea remain leading causes of death among children under five in Uganda. Vaccination coverage is improving, but many children still lack access to life-saving immunizations. - Limited Access to Healthcare
In rural areas, healthcare facilities are scarce, and many families cannot afford treatment. The lack of trained healthcare workers further exacerbates the problem. - Water and Sanitation
Only 72% of Uganda’s population has access to safe drinking water, and even fewer have access to proper sanitation facilities. This leads to the spread of waterborne diseases, particularly among children.
Our Approach to Improving Health
At ELOI Ministries, we take a holistic approach to health, addressing both immediate needs and long-term solutions:
- Nutrition Programs: We provide food aid and educate families on healthy diets to combat malnutrition.
- Medical Outreach Camps: Our mobile clinics bring healthcare to remote areas, offering vaccinations, check-ups, and treatment for common illnesses.
- Water and Sanitation Projects: We build wells, install water purification systems, and educate communities on hygiene practices to reduce waterborne diseases.
- Maternal and Child Health Programs: We support mothers with prenatal care, safe delivery services, and postnatal health education to ensure the best start for their children.
