Honoring the Mothers of Uganda: Tackling the Maternal Health Crisis

Introduction: The Eve of International Women’s Day As the world prepares to celebrate International Women’s Day this Sunday, ELOIM is focusing on one of the most critical issues facing Ugandan women today: Maternal Health. A vibrant Uganda—where every individual thrives socially, economically, and spiritually—cannot exist if its mothers are not protected. Despite progress, Uganda continues to face significant health challenges, and maternal mortality and morbidity remain a stark reality for too many families in rural and underserved communities.

The Buwenge Hospital Partnership Healthcare is a fundamental human right. We believe that no woman should lose her life bringing another life into the world due to a lack of access to quality medical care.

  • Collaborative Care: Since 2013, ELOI Ministries has partnered with Buwenge Hospital to facilitate and improve healthcare access. This partnership is vital for ensuring that expectant mothers receive the monitoring, education, and safe delivery environments they desperately need.
  • Holistic Health: Our focus is not just on the moment of birth, but on comprehensive maternal health and nutrition. A malnourished mother cannot sustain a healthy child. By working alongside healthcare providers, we aim to combat these overlapping challenges.

Empowering Women Beyond the Clinic True maternal health extends beyond the hospital walls. It requires empowering women economically and socially. Through our Women Empowerment programs in Kasambya county, Nakaseke village, we are equipping mothers with the tools they need to support their families.

Conclusion: A Commitment to Life This International Women’s Day, we honor the resilience of Ugandan mothers. ELOIM remains steadfast in our commitment to partnering with local medical institutions to ensure that every woman has access to the quality medical care she deserves.
