Introduction: Defining the Vulnerable Under Ugandan law, a child is a person under the age of 18 years. At ELOIM, we believe that under this age, a child is supposed to be fiercely protected from all forms of abuse, exploitation, and neglect. While we are deeply proud of our Education Bursary Scheme—having sponsored over 500 children—we know that paying school fees is only one piece of the puzzle. An educated child must first be a protected child.
Safe Spaces for Learning Education cannot happen in an environment of fear.
- School Outreach: Our school outreach programs go beyond providing scholastic materials. We partner with educational institutions to monitor the wellbeing of our sponsored students. We look for the silent signs of abuse, neglect, or forced early labor.
- The ELOI Junior School Vision: This is why the ELOI Junior School Project is so central to our future. By creating our own educational environment ranging from kindergarten to secondary school, we can guarantee an ecosystem where child protection protocols are the foundation of the daily curriculum.
Conclusion: Hope Requires Safety “Hope for an African Child” is our guiding vision. That hope is extinguished when a child is subjected to violence or exploitation. Through our Child Protection initiatives, we advocate for the rights of the children of Africa, ensuring they grow up in environments where they can thrive socially, economically, and spiritually.
