In communities across Uganda, women are the pillars of society. They are caregivers, farmers, and innovators. Yet, they often face systemic barriers that limit their access to education, land ownership, and economic opportunities.
At ELOIM, our Women Empowerment program is not about giving handouts. It’s about providing a “hand-up.” We invest in the inherent potential of women, providing them with the tools and support they need to build secure and prosperous futures for themselves and their families.
Our work in Kasambya County, Nakaseke village, is a powerful example. Here’s how we’re making a difference:
- Skills Training: We provide practical training in areas like sustainable agriculture, tailoring, and small business management. These are not just hobbies; they are pathways to a reliable income.
- Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs): We help women form self-managed savings groups. By pooling their money, they can take out small loans to start or expand their businesses—without needing a formal bank. This fosters financial independence and community trust.
- Leadership and Advocacy: We empower women to become leaders. As they gain economic power and confidence, they find their voice. They begin to participate in community decision-making, advocating for better health, education, and infrastructure.
The results are transformative. A woman with her own income can afford to send her children to school. She can pay for medical bills. She can contribute to her family’s nutrition. The ripple effect is immense, lifting her entire family and community.
Invest in a Woman, Invest in the Future:
- Support our Women Empowerment Fund: Your donation can provide startup capital for a woman’s small business or fund a skills training workshop.
- Share Her Story: Help us celebrate the incredible resilience and entrepreneurship of the women we serve.
